1980s Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman for Herman Miller
Beautiful 37 year old Eames Lounge chair with ottoman from 1981. The plywood base and back are made in molded ash and finisht in deep black lacquerer.
The feather filled cushions are made in ” Nero” Black Leather. The condition of the chair is near mint and the wood is in near perfect condition. The chair has the original leather and black lacquered finish. This Herman Miller edition is one of the latest made in Europe with the Herman Miller Label, this as the production rights for the Lounge Chair went in 1982 to Vitra. The chair is now produced in Europe with the Vitra Label. Over all condition on a scale of 1-10 will be a 9
The Eames Lounge Chair and ottoman are made of molded plywood and leather, designed by Charles and Ray Eames for Herman Miller. They are officially titled Eames Lounge (670) and Ottoman (671) and were released in 1956.
It was the first chair that the Eameses designed for a high-end market.
This Eames Lounge Chair is part of the permanent collection of New York’ Museum Of Moder Art ( MOMA )
